Dr habil. med. Radoslaw Spiewak was born in 1968 in Tarnow, Poland. Medical study at Silesian Medical Academy, 1987-1993. Doctor of medical sciences (1995), specialist dermatologist (1999). Habilitation (state-certified permanent qualification for professor posts) in 2003. Scientific director of the Institute of Dermatology, Krakow (Poland). Research interests: diagnosis in vivo and in vitro of contact allergy, skin allergy. Participant of the European Multi-Centre study investigating the frequency of photoallergy to organic sunscreens and topical NSAID’s.

He will present his lecture "Pathomechanisms of photoallergic and phototoxic dermatitis" during the Photoallergy Meeting (18 September 2009), and he also will serve as member of Faculty during the Photopatch Test Course (19 September 2009).

Dr Spiewak is initiator and scientific director of the very succesful Practical Patch Test Course for Polish doctors (11 editions within 2 years with >200 participants). Member of the Local Organizing Committee at the XXVIII Congress of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (Warsaw, 6-10 June 2009) and of the Scientific Committee at the 10th Congress of the European Society of Contact Dermatitis (Strasbourg, 15-18 September 2010).

Author or co-author of 67 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals and 13 scientific monographs. Co-founder and co-editor of the "Annals of Agricultural and Environmental Medicine", member of the scientific advisory board of the journal "Allergologie", the "Journal of Investigational Allergology and Clinical Immunology", and The Open Allergy Journal. Dermatology and allergology rater for the McMaster Online Rating of Evidence (MORE), PIER, bmjupdates+, and the Evidence-Based Journals.

International awards: Howard I. Maibach Award (American Society of Contact Dermatitis, 2003), EAACI Exchange Research Fellowship Award (European Academy of Allergology and Clinical Immunology, 2001), Albert M. Kligman Fellowship (Society for Investigative Dermatology, 2001).
