Professor James Ferguson, MD, FRCP. Head of Photobiology Unit, Consultant Dermatologist, Department of Dermatology, Ninewells Hospital & Medical School, Dundee, Scotland (UK). Chief Investigator for the European Multi-Centre study investigating the frequency of photoallergy to organic sunscreens and topical NSAID’s. Editor of the textbook "Photodermatology" (Ferguson J, Dover JS, Eds. Photodermatology. Manson Publishing, London 2006 - textbook's website).
He has been active in the field of photodermatology for over 20 years, with main research interests in development of new phototherapeutic and photochemotherapeutic treatment modalities, phototherapy for the management of psoriasis and atopic dermatitis, drug induced photosensitivity, pathogenesis and epidemiology of the photosensitivity disorders. He has published 75 Medline-indexed scientific articles on this topic.
Professor James Ferguson will present his lecture "Photodermatoses: skin diseases induced by light - an overview" during the Photoallergy Meeting (18 September 2009), and he also will serve as member of Faculty during the Photopatch Test Course (19 September 2009).
